News & Meeting Information

November 2017 Monthly Meeting

When: Thursday, November 16th, 12:00pm (Lunch-time Meeting)
Where:  WNYT Studios, 715 N. Pearl Street, Menands, NY 12204

Assembly & Lunch:  12:00pm
Meeting & Presentation: 12:30pm

David Brender is National Program Manager for the Copper Development Association (CDA) in New York City. He directs and manages CDA’s Building Wire and Power Quality Initiatives, research activities, National Electrical Code, and IEEE activities, among others.

David has written numerous magazine articles and white papers on grounding and other power quality subjects, and is a member of Panel 5 of the National Electrical Code. He’s a licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, and is a Certified Power Quality Professional from the Association of Energy Engineers.

Broadcast centers have both unique and universal powering, grounding and bonding requirements, often overlooked, and not understood by most designers and contactors.

Proper bonding and grounding of facilities greatly diminishes the vulnerability to transients, and is usually quite cost-effective with quick paybacks.

This seminar will recommend wiring and grounding techniques and practices, and examines stations that suffered downtime and retrofitted above Code minimums to solve the problems

The case studies will amply illustrate application of proper electrical infrastructure in the elimination and prevention of power quality problems, with results at minimal cost.

No branded products are promoted or recommended.

Please park in WNYT’s “Employee Parking” surrounding the 4-bay garage off Amsterdam Avenue (at North Pearl). Please do not park in the “News Lot” off North Pearl, unless you need one of the “disabled” spaces. Thanks!

Chapter 58 meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each month. Information pertaining to meeting topics and locations can be found on this page, on our home page, and in monthly e-mail updates from our Chapter Chairperson. In the past, meetings generally were not held in April (due to the NAB convention), or during the summer months.

Through the generosity of our local-level Sustaining Members, Chapter 58 hosts an annual golf outing in July, and a Holiday Party in December.

If you have an idea for a monthly meeting, please let us know!
